Erlangen has been the host of the largest and most important event for comic art and graphic literature in the German-speaking world for 40 years. In 2024, the festival will take place from 30 May to 2 June.

The core of the Erlangen International Comic Salon is the Comic Fair. More than 200 exhibitors – German and international publishers, agencies, comic dealers, comic and illustration classes from universities – present their programmes.

The Max and Moritz Award is the most important price for graphic literature in the German-speaking world. One of the highlights of the Salon is the Max and Moritz Gala at the Erlangen Markgrafentheater.

Around 450 artists are guests at the festival and can be experienced at signing and live drawing sessions, artist talks, readings and panel discussions.

The distinctive feature of the Erlangen International Comic Salon is the numerous exhibitions spread across the entire city centre – solo exhibitions dedicated to international comic stars, as well as insights into the German speaking scene, newcomers, thematic exhibitions on comic culture and socio-political issues.

Kids love Comics the four-day festival within the festival attracts young audiences and families with interactive exhibition projects, readings, workshops, live drawing sessions and much more.

Key aspects of the International Comic Salon and current topics of the comic industry are explored in depth over four days in numerous talks, presentations and panel discussion.

Comic readings, workshops, performances, concerts and the Comic Film Fest enrich the festival's supporting programme.

One of the most important and popular German comic exchanges with dealers from all over the German-speaking countries presents rarities and second-hand books.
